A person who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
The man played a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepson had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained items including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the man went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she added.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson called the police a second time.
She stated the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
